Gaming News – June 28th – Gundog, Gun Monkeys, Steam Trading Cards

News is a bit short to day (and a bit silly) as there isn’t really a whole lot to talk about.
ALSO: I now realize that my monitors may be affecting my lighting. I’ll try to be more aware of this in the future and hopefully it won’t be as noticeably terrible as it was tonight.

Project Spark Beta

Project Spark was one of the games at E3 that I was intrigued by. It’s a weird mix of world-building, social, and RPG that seems to use Xbox Live avatars as characters.

This is the first time that I’ve hear that it will be available on a platform aside from the Xbox One, so I’m excited that I’ll actually get to play it now.

Beta is starting soon and it’s sounding like the game will be available on Xbox One, PC, and (presumably only Windows 8) Tablets.

Microsoft Changing XBLA Patch Restrictions

EuroGamer.net Article:

ORIGINAL STORY: Microsoft no longer charges developers for Xbox 360 title updates, Eurogamer has been told by multiple development sources.
I’ll be keeping an eye on this, hopefully we learn more about this.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this story as it develops. It’ll be interesting to see what Microsoft’s reasoning is behind this and how this will affect indies on Xbox One.

According to the article we’re still not sure whether or not this change will be retroactive, or only apply to new games going forward.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see… although Microsoft is having to fight really hard now to get back into the good graces of gamers, and I can’t imagine they’d be able to get away with making this change only for new games without getting a ton of flak for it.
